The Moto Guzzi Stornello, the first of which came onto the market in 1960, was designed as a light and cheap to produce motorcycle. For example, the crankcase was cast, the valves were parallel to each other and a wet-sump lubrication system was used.
In 1968 the bore of the Stornello was increased to 58 mm, creating a 153.2 cc engine that was named Stornello 160. The design had become much sportier. The Stornello 160 initially had four gears and produced approximately 16 hp. In 1970, all models were designed much more sleekly and were given the white/red/black color combination of the V7 Special. They also all got five gears.
This specimen has been converted into a café racer and is in very good condition.
