Velocette is one of the legendary British motorcycle marques. Velocette have won many victories in the history of motor racing and the machines were highly successful in the thrilling 'Manx' TT races on the Isle of Man. The Venom Thruxton is one of their last designs. The Venom Thruxton features a powerful single cylinder 500 cc four stroke engine with overhead valves. This Velocette Venom motorcycle was fully restored, overhauled and rebuilt to Thruxton specifications and to the highest standards. In the mid 1960s the engine was used by the renowned Dutch motorcycle racer Jan Strijbis who was the last racer to compete in a TT on a Velocette in 1976. The engine was rebuilt with new parts to the Strijbis racing specifications. Fitted are a Thruxton cylinder head with 2-inch inlet valve, Thruxton Racing camshafts, racing clutch with 20 springs, a GP2 Amal racing carburettor. The gearbox is a Thruxton close-ratio unit. The special racing crankshaft, connecting rod and piston were balanced and blueprinted. This engine runs impressively powerful and it is suitable for street and circuit use. The motorcycle shows the fantastic original Velocette Venom and Thruxton details like the special petrol tank, the oil tank with heat shield, the large front drum brake and the aluminium rims with Stainless-Steel Spokes. This rare Velocette Venom Thruxton looks a picture, and it will be an eye catcher on every historic motorcycle meeting. These Velocette motorcycles are very hard to find, a true collector's item!
